Elisha Williams, who will portray Dean Williams, will join ABC’s reboot alongside kid actors Milan Ray, Julian Lerner, and Amari O’Neil.

Saladin Patterson, Fred Savage, and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels are behind the Wonder Years single-camera comedy reboot pilot.
The reboot of the classic 1980s family comedy-drama, written by Patterson and directed by Savage, is set in the same era as the original. It explores how the Williamses, a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, made the unsettling late 1960s, the Wonder Years for them as well.
Ray, who has recently appeared in Amazon’s Troop Zero and HBO’s Charm City Kings, plays Keisa Clemmons, Dean’s love interest. She’s self-assured, smart, and she’s not afraid to speak her mind or take guff from anyone.
Lerner, who was recently seen in Netflix’s Yes Day alongside Jennifer Garner, Edgar Ramirez, and Jenna Ortega, and O’Neil, who has appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, and The Mayor, plays Dean’s best friends.
